California QRIS Consortium

The newly formed California QRIS (CA–QRIS) Consortium is a continuation of the work done through California’s Federal Race to the Top–Early Learning Challenge (RTT–ELC) grant. The RTT–ELC grant charged Regional Leadership Consortia with incorporating a locally driven quality rating and improvement system (QRIS) to improve the quality of early learning programs throughout the state.

As California’s RTT–ELC transitions into the CA–QRIS Consortium, the CA–QRIS now includes representatives from all counties and regions implementing a QRIS, including:

  • RTT–ELC Consortia and Mentees
  • California State Preschool Program (CSPP) QRIS Block Grantees
  • Infant/Toddler QRIS Block Grantees
  • First 5 IMPACT Consortia

Additionally, the CA–QRIS Consortium is supported by the CA–QRIS State Support Team, which includes staff from the California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division, and First 5 California.

Beginning in 2016, the CA–QRIS Consortium will address issues pertaining to the implementation of the CA–QRIS Framework, which include the CA–QRIS Rating Matrix, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Pathways, Consortia Implementation Guide, and strategies for messaging QRIS to families and the public.
